Employment is a crucial necessity for survivors; if their socioeconomic vulnerabilities are not addressed, a survivor may easily fall into a critical financial situation similar to the one they experienced prior to exploitation. This not only leaves them unprotected from being re-trafficked, but exacerbates potentially existing challenges of complex trauma, unstable housing, and other barriers to recovery.
The second half of our year-long program focuses solely on job training. For six months, these women are learning all the skills they would need to succeed in a professional career: resume writing, mock interviews, workplace etiquette, computer skills, soft skills, and more.
Businesses can support the empowerment of survivors by partnering with organizations like Salt and Light and offering safe, long-term employment. Click on the photos below to hear from a couple of our Thrivers’ employers!
Inclusive workplaces can truly make a huge difference in these women's lives. As an employer of survivors ourselves, we have seen first-hand how hard-working and dedicated these women are. Please join us in our initiative and Hire a Thriver.
